As we continue to expand our operations, we are seeking a highly skilled LV/Truck Fitter - Mechanic to join our team and manage the servicing and repairs of our Toyota LV Fleet, Tipper Trucks, and provide support for the servicing and repair of our CATERPILLAR Fleet.

About the role

As an LV/Truck Fitter - Mechanic at CMC, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of our fleet of Toyota LV vehicles and Tipper Trucks.

You will play a crucial role in conducting regular servicing, diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues, and performing preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.

Additionally, you will provide support for the servicing and repair of our CATERPILLAR Fleet, leveraging your expertise in both LV and heavy machinery maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the servicing and repairs of CMC's Toyota LV Fleet, including 180 vehicles, ensuring compliance with manufacturer specifications and industry standards;
  • Conduct routine inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on Tipper Trucks to maintain optimal performance and safety;
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks to prolong the lifespan of vehicles and equipment;
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime and keep operations running smoothly;
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including service schedules, repairs undertaken, and parts usage;
  • Provide technical support and assistance to the wider team, including operators and other maintenance staff, as required;
  • Collaborate with the procurement team to source and procure spare parts and consumables necessary for servicing and repairs;
  • Adhere to all relevant safety protocols and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.

About you

To join our team, you will need to be based in the Wide Bay region and have the following qualifications, skills, and experience:

  • Trade qualification as a Diesel Mechanic or equivalent;
  • Proven experience in servicing and repairing light vehicles (LV) and/or heavy machinery, preferably in a civil construction or mining environment;
  • Strong diagnostic skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues effectively;
  • Familiarity with Toyota LV vehicles, Tipper Trucks. Experience with CATERPILLAR equipment is highly desirable but not essential as training will be provided;
  • Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to maintenance and repairs;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment;
  • Natural communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with colleagues at all levels;
  • Ability to travel to site-based projects if required;
  • A valid driver's license (HR license preferred).
