The Role
A dynamic and progressive mixed farming family enterprise in Central West NSW is extending the invitation for an energetic and motivated Assistant Manager to join their team. Including recent expansion, the business now covers 5,600Ha acres where they operate Poll Merino and Dohne studs, a commercial flock, and commercial and additional trade cattle alongside a cropping program. The business has a strong business plan with intentions for further expansion. This role is the perfect opportunity to join the team and grow your role responsibilities with the business; the owners are supportive of future progression in this role and are looking for a long-term candidate.
As Assistant Manager you will be across all facets of the business, reporting directly to the owners you will work with the established team with extensive use of contractors. The studs are comprised of 2,500 ewes with a further 5,000 commercial ewes utilised for the production of prime lambs and wool. 450 Shorthorn and Angus breeders are maintained, with additional opportunistic trade stock being backgrounded and finished as dictated by the markets and seasons. You and your team will enjoy stock work which is conducted in large new Proway undercover yards. All stock movements are conducted with quad bikes ably assisted by working dogs. The family is proud of their product and property; therefore, applicants with an eye for detail and who take pride in their workplaces are desired.
The cropping program covers 1,400 hectares with the assistance of contractors and late-model machinery; it is preferable for candidates to have an understanding of the cropping cycle and be able to assist with operating the machinery. However, the livestock will be a large focus of the role. Ideally you will have mechanical aptitude and fabrication skills as all members of the team assist with the maintenance and repair of the fleet and general farm infrastructure.
The ability to maintain and undertake quality record keeping as well as being a strong communicator will ensure your ongoing success in this busy role.

The Ideal Candidate
Best suited to applicants with a high level of general farming knowledge, you will be experienced in both the management and handling of sheep and cattle as well as having a good understanding and ability with the general cropping cycles along with the following attributes:
  • Recent experience in a similar role.
  • Low-stress handling skills.
  • Life time ewe qualification or willingness to obtain.
  • Own quality working dogs
  • Ability to operate cropping machinery and implements.
  • Mechanical aptitude and fabrication skills.
  • Strong communication, organisational and record-keeping skills.
  • Current Chemcert.
  • Truck licence (or willingness to obtain).
