The Cardiac Service, Integrated Medicine, Child and Youth Services team are seeking a Clinical Nurse to join them. The Cairns Hospital Cardiac Ward is a 12- bed cardiac monitored unit. The patient cohort includes but is not limited to Acute Coronary Syndromes, Electrophysiology, Heart Failure, Endocrine and general medical patients.

About you:

In your new role you will…

About your opportunity:

In this position you will deliver direct nursing care at an advanced level, to people requiring cardiac, endocrine, and general medical care, within the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service. The clinical nurse will work collaboratively with consumers and multi-disciplinary professionals to support the dignity and well-being of consumers and families engaged with Cardiology service.

About your role:

  • Demonstrate expertise and advanced clinical skills in care of cardiac, endocrine, and general medical patients.
  • Provide effective and efficient clinical care in the area of clinical specialty and work in collaboration with the Nurse Unit Manager, to ensure the maintenance of safe standards in patient care.
  • Provide leadership to effectively plan, manage and evaluate patient care activities at an advanced practitioner level within the specified clinical setting.
  • Effectively communicate at all levels across the organisation to promote effective team functioning.  Undertake quality improvement and evidence-based practice activities to ensure the provision of quality, cost effective patient care.
