Evans High School, a comprehensive, co-educational secondary school serving the Blacktown community since 1973. The school caters for over 800 students (70% EASL, 29 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and 28% EAL/D learners) and provides a broad curriculum, including the full range of academic subjects as well as vocational education pathways to ensure all students have the opportunity to achieve their career pathways.

Evans High School includes a Support Unit (LAF) which caters for 28 students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Students have access to a varied study program which includes access to mainstream classes across the high school, work experience, project based learning and targeted wellbeing programs.

The Evans Intensive English Centre provides outstanding English targeted tuition programs delivered by highly experienced staff for recently arrived students from overseas. Our students undertake quality learning programs of up to 5 terms in length to prepare them for transitions into schools across Western Sydney.

Our quality learning environments are supported by highly qualified professional teaching and educational support staff who deliver data informed practice with explicit teaching and high expectations. Our school offers a compressed delivery model, where students complete the Preliminary and HSC courses for a subject within one year before doing their HSC exams.


Specific Selection Criteria
  • Approval to teach careers or currently undertaking or currently enrolled in the Careers Advisor qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education.
  • Experience in and an understanding of the administrative role to support the delivery Vocational Education Training in a secondary setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage community agencies, groups and parents in authentic partnerships required to support post-school pathway options for all students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience or skills that support effective management of workflow to meet deadlines and compliance with variation of routine procedures and work place assessments
  • Demonstrated ability to work with students and families to develop post school pathways and planning.

Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
Special Notes
If applicable engagement will be temporary until successful completion of the Careers Adviser qualifications as recognised by the NSW Department of Education, which must be completed within 12 months. Applicants are to include details of their WWCC clearance number as part of this application.
