Track Supervisor – Greyhounds WA
Greyhounds WA (GWA) is Western Australia’s only greyhound racing club, operating three race tracks at Cannington, Mandurah and Northam.
GWA is currently seeking a highly capable and responsible individual to fill the ‘hands-on’ position of ‘Supervisor Track & Grounds’ at our ‘TabTouch Park’ racing venue in Mandurah.
At 593 metres in circumference, Mandurah is not only WA’s biggest track but it’s busiest - with racing conducted there three times a week (sometimes four) and trials twice weekly.
Reporting to the ‘GWA Manager Track & Grounds’, the successful applicant will be responsible for managing a small but dedicated team to deliver optimum year-round racing and trialing facilities.
The permanent full-time (38hr week) role will also require rostered after-hours attendance in line with the racing schedule.
Selection Criteria
Essential
o A proactive commitment to animal welfare
o Previous experience in a supervisory role; ideally in a racing or a recreational surface (turf) management environment
o Proficiency operating tractors and ancillary track maintenance machinery / attachments
o Sound working knowledge of automated irrigation systems
o Good hand skills with aptitude for problem solving
o Understanding of, and commitment to, Occupational Safety and Health principles and standards
o Well-developed communication, leadership and conflict resolution skills
o Current C class driver’s license
Desirable (non-essential)
o Familiarity with, or experience working in, the greyhound racing industry or other allied racing code
o Trade Certificate or working knowledge of trade basics (e.g., electrical, mechanical, carpentry, plumbing, welding)
o Working knowledge of pneumatic systems
