We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced OHS Advisor to join our OHS Team, working at our Operations Centre on a permanent full-time basis.

What you’ll be working on

Based at Councils Operations Centre, you will partner with City Works and Amenity and Parks Teams at all levels to coach, mentor and guide them towards a mature and proactive safety culture.

The Operations Centre is responsible for the maintenance of parks and open spaces, waste and recycling services, street cleansing, fleet and asset maintenance & management; and other services provided through operations worksites.

What you need to succeed

  • Tertiary qualification with demonstrated experience in OHS or a lesser formal qualification accompanied by substantial experience working as an OHS Advisor.
  • Current Driver’s License.
  • A methodical, evidence-based approach to safety and risk management with high attention to detail.
  • Exceptional time management and prioritisation skills, with the ability to plan, prioritise and deliver within timeframes in an environment of change and conflicting demands.
  • Demonstrated capacity to build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, work collaboratively to enhance rapport.
  • A proactive approach in identifying and improving health and safety practices, providing advice and input on OHS solutions, including policies, procedures and training.
  • Familiarity with manual handling, slips, trips and falls, and occupational violence and the risks associated with these.
  • Previous local government experience is desirable but not essential.
