We are currently recruiting for a Purchasing Officer with a leading Steel manufacturer in Wetherill Park, NSW. As a Purchasing Officer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of the procurement processes. Your responsibilities will include:
- Sourcing and purchasing raw materials, equipment, and supplies in a cost-effective and timely manner.
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers to negotiate favourable terms and pricing.
- Conducting market research to identify new suppliers and product options.
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders to understand their procurement needs and requirements.
- Monitoring inventory levels and optimizing stock levels to minimize waste and reduce costs.
- Tracking market trends to ensure value is optimised for the business.
- Managing the purchasing process, from purchase order creation to delivery and payment processing in coordination with the Procurement Manager.
- Ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and relevant regulations.
- Proven experience as a Purchasing Officer or similar role, preferably in the manufacturing industry.
- A solid understanding of procurement processes, supply chain management, and inventory control.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in using procurement software and MS Office applications.
- A proactive and results-driven attitude with a focus on continuous improvement.
- A relevant degree or certification in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
