We have an exciting opening available to join our Kulunga Aboriginal Unit at the Telethon Kids Institute! The key focus of the Kulunga team is to guide and support Research teams to connect with Aboriginal children and families and to build the capacity and development of Institute researchers working on Aboriginal Health & Wellbeing projects.

As the Community Engagement Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in building strong partnerships and engagement with Researchers, Aboriginal children, families and communities across the Kimberley region.

Your focus will be to closely liaise between the groups and guide our families, community members and Research Teams to work in partnership and to make informed decisions about research priorities, protocols and practice.

Some of your responsibilities will include : Acting as a point of contact between staff and families of various cultural backgrounds to ensure a culturally competent and safe interaction.

Coordinating and evaluating special events and celebrations as relevant to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, including NAIDOC and Reconciliation Weeks.

Coordinating the development, delivery and evaluation of Telethon Kids Health Promotion in the Kimberleys with research teams.

Representing Telethon Kids Kimberley on working parties, committees and conferences. Based in our office in Broome, this position will be offered on a full-time permanent basis.

About You This position would suit someone with a deep commitment to building the capacity of Aboriginal people and communities and an understanding of Aboriginal research and research design.

Along with that, the key to your success will be your skills and experience in the following : Relevant experience in an administrative, project management or business capacity.

Strong cultural awareness of varying cultures that reside within Western Australia. Experience in working with Aboriginal communities and multiple stakeholders, including demonstrated ability to consult with community and represents community views and interest.

Great communication and people skills with the ability to develop strong internal and external relationships. Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and work autonomously and as part of a team.
