The Role:
As a Disability Support Worker with Oyster Care, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day care of our Participants with physical disabilities and/or mental illness. Oyster Care Support Workers enable our participants to reach their full potential by helping them achieve their individual goals.
Main Duties of a Support Worker include, but are not limited to:
- Community Access: driving to appointments, and/or facilitate community outings, shopping etc.
- Personal Care: including showering, personal hygiene, continence and grooming.
- Domestic Duties: including light housework, meal preparation, etc.
- Documentation: documenting all services, incidents and supports provided making sure they align with our participant goals.
Skills and Requirements:
- Mental Health experience is highly favourable but not required.
- Excellent work ethic, strong oral communication skills and written skills.
- Have an empathetic and person-centered approach when supporting our Participants in their own home and/or out in the community. Treat them how you would treat your own family member.
- Having a background in Support Work / Nursing and/or experience supporting a variety of NDIS participants with mental illness, intellectual and physical disabilities.
Essential Criteria:
- Must be willing to travel around Sydney.
- Must be vaccinated for COVID-19.
- Must be willing to provide personal care to both male and female participants.
- Must own an insured vehicle and be willing to utilize said vehicle in supporting participants.
- Must have some form of experience in Disability, Mental Health, or Aged Care.
