Alfred Health Occupational Therapy Services operates across The Alfred, Caulfield and Sandringham Hospitals, with clinical services aligned to Alfred Health's strategic goals and operational performance targets. The Position Summary
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Grade 2 Occupational Therapist to join the Occupational Therapy team at Alfred Health in a permanent capacity.
This position is based at Sandringham Hospital, which provides healthcare in emergency, general medicine, orthopaedics and in outpatient clinics. The successful applicant for this Grade 2 Occupational Therapy position will apply their knowledge, skill and expertise to deliver excellent clinical service to acutely unwell general medicine and orthopaedic patients. They will work work closely and collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team to contribute to care and quality of life for older patients. A key role of the Occupational Therapist at Sandringham is to promote occupational performance, contribute to timely progression of care and facilitation of discharge pathways to home and the community for these patients.
At a Grade 2 level, Occupational Therapists are required to display autonomy of practice, whilst also contributing strongly to the multi-disciplinary team via the provision of high quality inpatient assessment and intervention. There will also be opportunities for Grade 2 clinicians to be involved in various teaching/training and quality improvement activities across the Occupational Therapy Service, and will be responsible for the supervision and mentoring of junior Occupational Therapy staff, Allied Health Assistants and/or undergraduate students.
Skills and Qualifications Required
- The ability to work effectively as an Allied Health Professional by being able to demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively within a large multidisciplinary team
- B. App Sc (OT), B. Occupational Therapy, MOT prac or recognised equivalent
- Registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia
- Member of OT Australia (or eligibility for membership)
- Minimum three years of clinical experience in Occupational Therapy
