We have been restoring precious and valuable old and classic cars in Brisbane since 1988.

We have completed and delivered more than 500 restoration projects, for customers Australia wide and overseas, like Hong Kong, Singapore, Germany, Japan and the USA.

Our customers now demand a high level of all around finish, many enter the completed classics successfully in car shows all over the country and even at the world famous Pebble Beach Concours in California USA. We have restored cars for the Mercedes Benz Classic Centre in Germany and have won many other world class concourse events all over the world.

These restorations are very expensive costing hundreds of thousands and sometimes into 7 figures, where we offer the highest quality in the industry for the select few which can afford such things.

What we require is an Edwardian, Veteran, Vintage, Pre-war and Post War classic car restorer. This means the successful applicant must be familiar with cars from the 1890s to the 1980s. These cars require skill which are from a bygone era.

  • Mercedes Benz, is our main speciality, the successful applicant must be familiar with the particular way Mercedes manufacture their vehicles over 100 years of production.
  • Auto-Union, this includes the umbrella of DKW, Horsch, AUDI, Wanderer.

  • Hispano Suisse
  • Rolls Royce,
  • Bentley
  • Ferrari

  • And many others too numerous to list.

With all the makes listed above our cut off is 1980.

Required skills,

  • A keen eye for detail.
  • Reliably reassemble rare, valuable and often historically significant classic, vintage and veteran automobiles.
  • Skilled in automotive electrical, rebuilding electric motors, generators, magnetos, electric window mechanism’s, switches, relays, then rewire complete vehicle’s using correct factory colours and specific wiring, all to factory specifications and that work the first time.
  • Expert in coachbuilding, the successful candidate must be able to completely make wood vehicle body frames to exact factory specifications and shape perfectly.
  • candidate must also have knowledge in automotive trimming and be able to work with our other master craftsmen and follow instruction exactly to what has been asked of him. This includes being able to work all trimming equipment without instruction to a highly professional level.
  • The successful candidate must be able to make exact copies of vehicle components out of wood no matter how complicated and be able to increase and decrease their size by the desired percentage of difference. Then make moulds of these items so they can be cast out of various materials. So required parts which can’t be purchased or repaired can be made to complete which ever vehicle needed.
  • The successful candidate must be highly skilled in aircraft hydraulic systems, this applies to the Mercedes 600 range which we regularly restore. These vehicles use these hydraulic systems throughout the vehicle. The hydraulic systems which need to be repaired are, High pressure pumps, many variable hydraulic switches, gas accumulators, hydraulic rams, pressure regulators, and various integrated electric and hydraulic systems.
  • Other systems which the successful candidate must be familiar with is vehicle air systems, these are used for air suspension and many other functions, like air brakes, air horns, plus more. The successful candidate must be able to completely rebuild all parts of the air system to perfect operation.
  • The successful candidate must be able to weld to a high level in Mig, Tig, Arc welding. These skills will need to be shown in the introduction.
  • Lathe and milling machines the successful candidate must be highly skilled with these pieces of equipment. Many tasks will require these skills.
  • The successful candidate must be a qualified mechanic to a high level in order to do many of the jobs required.
  • Panel beating, the successful candidate must be able to repair various metal components to be chrome, nickel, copper plated. These items must fit the vehicle perfectly after repair.
  • The successful candidate must be able to assemble vehicles exactly to the original vehicles specifications with all items assembled must work like new.
  • During the assembly process the successful candidate must be able to diagnosis various component issues before these items are assembled. This is crucial to what we do as it is imperative that the successful candidate is able to do this in all different areas in the vehicle from rebuilding of sunroof’s to convertible tops, A/C systems, various dash instrumentation, old valve radios, door locks and other lock mechanisms. Heater controls, electric window mechanisms, vacuum door locks, air suspension, various different braking systems from cable, to steel rod to hydraulic systems these systems must work perfectly without fault. Many of the braking systems would need to be completely refabricated including hydraulic brake lines to proportioning valves, master cylinders, remote brake boosters etc.

In addition to the above advanced and exceptional coach building skills the successful candidate should also possess strong work ethics and a commitment to perfection. To work for Sleeping Beauties Pty Ltd the applicant must be very patient to be successful in this particular work.

This superior level of skill, craftsmanship, experience, diligence and perfection is required to restore exceptional rare and valuable vehicles for international and national customers, some to a concourse level for entry into the best international car shows.

We require new team members do their best to fit in and be part of the Sleeping Beauties team, we employ a number of people we are older in the work environment and the new employee needs to be aware of this and make an extra effort to fit in with the older work force environment considering we have employees which have been with the company for over 25 years and some near 33 years.
