About Our Client:

Our client, located in Archerfield, QLD are seeking an experienced trade qualified Boilermaker for ongoing day shift Monday to Friday, 38 hours per week with optional overtime.

About the Role:

The primary focus of this role is to support the product through the company by diligently carrying out maintenance, repair and recondition jobs of earthmoving machinery as directed to a satisfactory standard of quality workmanship and in a timely manner.

Your duties will include but are not limited to:

Functional Objectives
  • Ensure safety goals are achieved through personal commitment, no harm to self or others and participation in safety initiatives
  • Display fairness, exhibit trust and create real teamwork and sharing
  • Pro-actively seek and maintain collaborative working relationships with peers and manager to deliver results
  • Ensure opportunities for continuous improvement are identified and reported utilising the Caterpillar Production System (CPS) methodology’s
Clerical Functions
  • Submit accurate service reports, time cards, parts request sheets, parts quotes teardown reports and time required guides (TRG) as required on applicable repair jobs instructed by Leading Hand
  • Ensure service report SIMS and repair detail information is entered directly into a work order via SPI or via and electronic medium as advised by Leading Hand
Assigned Tasks
  • Perform fabrication and repairs work on all components of earthmoving machinery sold and/or serviced by the Company as directed by Leading Hand or immediate supervisor
  • Research and consult the correct and latest service information systems for specific procedures, instructions and specifications
  • Research and use the correct and latest available information when dismantling and assembling components
  • Take all reasonable steps to ensure that assigned tasks are free of faulty workmanship, assuring quality in the finished product
  • Ensure fabrication and repairs are carried out using the appropriate control guidelines to ensure that rework jobs do not occur. This is to include check sheets, quality control procedures and guidelines. This may require adhering to specific OEM welding procedure
  • Ensure contamination control guidelines and procedures are to be understood and adhered to at all times
  • Ensure all assigned tasks are completed within required target times
  • Determine reusability of all disassembled parts
  • Ensure any additional work or defects that are identified are immediately brought to the attention of the Leading Hand
  • Provide assistance to other tradespersons in carrying out daily tasks
  • Ensure adequate communications are maintained with Leading Hand

  • Direct customer enquiries to the Leading Hand
  • Identify possible areas of wastage and work towards continuous improvement
Completion of Components after Rebuild
  • Ensure all components are fitted to the appropriate shipping stand/frame and correctly secured
  • Ensure component and shipping stands are painted and sections of the component that are not painted are effectively masked
  • Ensure rust prevention products are applied when required
Apprentice Development
  • Apprentice development is a primary consideration and on the job training and mentoring is required by the Tradesperson to ensure the Apprentice has every opportunity to achieve competencies in an acceptable time frame. Concerns and suggestions are to be reported to the Leading Hand
Tools & Equipment
  • Ensure Tool Store Attendant is advised of any tools removed from the tool store and these are signed for even when taken outside normal tool store hours
  • Ensure all tools are returned to tool store in a clean condition immediately after use. All damages to be reported to Leading Hand and Tool Store Attendant
  • Ensure Tool Store Attendant and Leading Hand are notified when tools issued are in an unserviceable condition
  • Ensure tools are not damaged due to unsafe work methods or misuse
  • Ensure no tool loss occurs of tools issued
To be successful for this role you will need the following:
  • Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade (Boilermaking)
  • Minimum three years’ experience in a similar role or equivalent
  • Valid 'Class C' Driver's Licence
  • Competent at Flux-Cored, MIG and Electric Arc Welding
  • Competent at Sheet and Plate assembly and assembling fabricated components
  • Competent at advanced welding processes
  • Skills to perform repair replacement and modification to fabrications
