Roster: Monday - Friday We are currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Mining Engineer to join our Central Energy Efficiency HME team. Reporting to the Project Manager Energy Efficiency, this role plays a pivotal part in driving efficiency in mining operations within our Metals Mining portfolio. With a strong focus on the decarbonisation of our traditional HME efficiency, the successful candidate will manage entire projects from inception to completion, collaborating with key stakeholders to implement innovative solutions and optimize our mining processes. Key Responsibilities- Manage entire projects from start to finish, ensuring effective communication with key stakeholders throughout.
- Implement tools and processes to enhance mining efficiencies, leveraging data-driven insights and innovative technologies.
- Conduct mining studies to identify optimization opportunities and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Play a key role in the development and implementation of AI solutions to streamline mine planning processes.
- Provide technical expertise and mentorship to site mine planning teams, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Conduct trade-off analysis for various haul truck and transport solutions, optimizing cost and schedule effectiveness for Fortescue operations.
- Collaborate with technical support functions to assess risks and opportunities in proposed operations and incorporate these insights into project designs.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in mining engineering or related disciplines, with demonstrated proficiency in project management.
- Led mine production teams in a supervisor, coordinator, or superintendent capacity.
- Experience in both operational and technical roles within the mining industry, with a track record of driving impactful initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in mining engineering or a related field
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive and solutions-focused mindset.
- Independent thinker with a strong ability to take initiative and drive projects forward
- Computer proficiency (Power BI, Alastri or similar) desirable.
- Experience in mine planning for opencast operations and familiarity with open-cast mining simulation tools is desirable.
- Experience using off the shelf open cast mining simulation tool
- Working directly within an autonomous haulage mine site
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with both operations and technical teams.
- Team-oriented mindset with a strong ability to take initiative and drive projects forward.
