The role

Drawing on your industry experience the role includes.

  • Carrying out workplace inspections and take appropriate enforcement actions when work health and safety laws are breached.
  • Investigating complex workplace incidents and/or accidents, which may include fatalities and serious injuries.
  • Gathering evidence in relation to matters of moderate complexity, preparing briefs to legal, making recommendations about prosecutions and presenting evidence in court as required.
  • Promoting work health and safety laws by given presentations, providing information to workplaces and industry organisations.

You will have the opportunity to share your skills and knowledge with others, opportunities to grow within the role with professional development. You will also be able to represent the department on committees, working groups and forums and be able to put forward your perspective and knowledge on safer working practices in industry.

While this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies (permanent, fixed-term, full-time or part-time) within the department for the next 12 months.

The team you will be working with includes a small friendly team working out of Geraldton with other team members located at Albany, Geraldton and Perth.

You will be part of a small team of dedicated professionals, who are friendly, driven and work hard to achieve our goals to improve the safety outcomes in the community. Together you will share knowledge, experiences through inspections, investigations and participate in team projects within different industries to ensure workplaces are aware of and implementing good safe practices.
