Due to business growth, they are seeking a Geophysical Field Electronic Technician to join their internationally growing team based in Jandakot, WA.
About the roleSurvey projects range in size and scope, with thousands of line kilometres flown on an annual basis on various airborne geophysical technologies in various countries in the Eastern hemisphere. As a Geophysical Field Electronic Technician, you will participate in all facets of the airborne geophysical survey including safety, survey operations, equipment maintenance, data quality, staffing, operator training, and logistics.
Reporting to the Geophysical Systems Manager, you will rotate between working in the Jandakot office and being in the field for up to 4 weeks at a time. In the field, you are assigned to a multidisciplinary team of 3-5 members consisting of pilots, operation field technicians, licensed aircraft engineers and geophysicists. Working collaboratively with your team, you will ensure the project stays on target, data is collected efficiently, and uptime is maximised.
You will utilise your hands-on experience in electronic and mechanical tools and instrumentation, to complete calibrations, fault finding and repairs of the geophysical equipment, as well as, prepare daily reports on its status.
Some other tasks you will be responsible for are:
Participating in project risk assessments, audits, inspections and job safety planning
Ensuring all crew are issued and comply with all appropriate HSE policies, procedures, documents and work instructions
Conducting weekly crew meetings
Conducting quality control on first-line data collected whilst flying
Managing in-field data, uploads and providing data to the data processing department
Coordinating the mobilisation and demobilisation of equipment and personnel
Ensuring the daily field activities comply with project and contract specifications

About youThe successful candidate will be keen to learn, have natural leadership qualities, and be able to utilise an autonomous approach. You will ideally have an electronic, mechanical, aviation, or relevant TAFE qualification. Previous hands-on electronic experience is advantageous, particularly soldering on PCBs and using multimeters or oscilloscopes.
