The Support Worker will be joining a fun and growing team at Kinder Souls, which specialises in working with children with disabilities and focuses on providing high-quality care and capacity building. They will be responsible for providing support and assistance to these children in their daily activities. This will include, but is not limited to, community access, personal care, meal preparation, medication administration, transportation and even tutoring. The Support Worker will also be responsible for assisting children with disabilities in achieving their goals and participating in community activities, and helping them to build their capacities and skills.
Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality personal care, such as bathing, dressing, personal hygiene and cleaning, to children with disabilities
- Assist with meal preparation and feeding, as needed
- Administer medication as directed by a healthcare professional
- Provide transportation to appointments and community activities
- Assist children with disabilities in achieving their goals, such as employment or education
- Help children with disabilities to build their capacities and skills
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of support provided
- Fulfill reporting duties wherever necessary
Qualifications:
- Experience in providing care or support to children with disabilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a fun and growing team
- Must have a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
- Must be willing to undergo a background check
- Must be willing to obtain a Working with Childrens check
- First Aid, CPR and relevant certification is a plus
- Certificate III in individual support or equivalent is a plus
- Certificate IV in community Aged care and disability or equivalent is a plus
