We are in ramp up stage which means multiple opportunities to join others as you and the team embark on pivotal journey for our local community and state as a Mechanical Fitter. We are seeking interest from individuals who hold a relevant Mechanical Trade qualification or Certificate IV in Aeroskills/mechanical maintenance to join our team at our Ballarat site. There are a range of shifts available including full time, part time, day and night shifts. It may be a requirement to be available across all of the shifts to support production activities, however the requirements of this will be shared in more detail throughout the assessment process.

Reporting to one of our Production Supervisors, this role would see you perform all Mechanical installations to complete the assembly of the train, where no day will be the same but you will have plenty of opportunities to progress through the levels if you wish.

Duties will include:

  • Read, apply technical documentation supplied.
  • Install and assemble railway vehicle components using standard work procedures, hand & power tools.
  • Perform basic testing and support troubleshooting and maintenance of mechanical systems and components installed in the railway car.
  • Use and manipulate lifting and transporting devices such as overhead cranes to install, replace and align subassemblies and components.
  • Perform self-Inspection of railway car components in order to identify defects and ensure quality.
  • Remove and replace defective parts and components.
  • Proficiently cross reference technical documents and highlight any discrepancies to the supervisor.
  • Work closely with support functions to identify and propose suggestions for continuous improvement.
  • Organize work instruction documents, tools and railway car parts daily.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Mechanical Trade Certification or Certificate IV in Aeroskills/mechanical maintenance
  • Experience within the manufacturing environment would be advantageous
  • Ability to be able to interpret technical diagrams & drawings
  • High risk tickets or licences (EWP, working at heights etc) would be advantageous (but not mandatory)
