Our client, Phosphate Resources Limited t / as Christmas Island Phosphates is a subsidiary of Phosphate Resources Limited, which employs approximately 180 people across its businesses on the Island.

The mature phosphate mining and export operation is governed by relevant Western Australian and Federal legislation, including the WA Mines Safety and Inspection Act.

Opportunity

They have an exciting opening for qualified HD Fitter to join the Mobile Plant Maintenance Team to live and work on Christmas Island.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carrying out the instructions of the Mobile Plant Maintenance Supervisor;
  • Carrying out AVE inspections as required;
  • Completing maintenance tasks as directed by supervisors;
  • Diagnosing faults, inspecting and testing machinery and plant and taking repair action required;
  • Carrying out repair action required to manufacturer’s specifications and relevant Australian standards; and
  • Ensuring to achieve the highest standard of OHS&E compliance.

About you / Requirement

  • Holding an Australian recognised Trade Certificate III in Engineering- Mechanical Trade (Heavy Duty Diesel Fitting) or equivalent;
  • WA Motor Vehicle Repairer’s Certificate endorsed for Diesel Fitting Work, Heavy Vehicle and Light Vehicle;
  • Current AVE certification;
  • Valid WA C’ Class Drivers’ License or equivalent;
  • Gantry crane operation certificate is desirable; and
  • Holding a current Senior First Aid Certificate.
