Amazon is seeking a Software Development Manager to join our exciting new team, Buy with Prime. This team is dedicated to re-imagining the way people shop. Our vision is to enable every entrepreneur to reach every customer. Buy with Prime is a new way to extend the Amazon Prime shopping experience to merchants’ own online stores.

In this role, you will create the vision for your team and define the technological roadmap by partnering up with Principal Engineers, Product Managers, and the engineering teams responsible for shopper and merchant experiences, distributed in different locations and time-zones.

Key job responsibilities
You will be responsible for solving complex problems, managing teams developing front and back-end services that can scale to millions of requests, build products that will reach millions of customers and deploy them globally delivering an exceptional customer experience.

You will work closely with and learn from a large Principal Engineering community with direct interaction with project leadership up to the S-Team level. As an innovator who embraces new technology, you will be empowered to choose the right highly scalable and available technology to solve complex problems and will directly influence product design. You will have the opportunity to build, scale and shape the direction of this business. You will work with highly intelligent and creative engineers to implement the key features of “Buy with Prime” while ensuring high standards of delivery, operational performance and customer focus.

You will be responsible for services that can be deployed globally, delivering an exceptional customer experience, provide thought leadership in a fast-paced development environment, and partner with product management and senior leaders to ensure the success of this program. You should be adept at understanding the development needs of individuals on your team and providing the right challenges and feedback.

A day in the life

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

Melbourne, VIC, AUS

Requirements:

- 3+ years of experience managing high performing engineering teams.
- 6+ years of engineering experience.
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of complex new and existing systems experience.
- Advanced knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/ hardware/ networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations.- * Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
- * Experience managing a team of high calibre Software Engineers developing complex, world class, scalable software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy.
