About us

Join our dedicated team, meeting the support needs of one person at a time; a married woman in her mid-30s.  You will work alongside eight other dedicated professionals who are employed and engaged under the lady's self managed and not for profit setting and framework. 

You will be directly employed by the lady and be part of her direct support team assisting her to maintain her independence and vibrant lifestyle. 

About the lady you will be supporting

She leads an active life including a business owner, wife, homemaker, fur-mum etc. She has a physical disability and uses an electric wheelchair to get around.

 

Qualifications & experience

  • JUMPSTART YOUR CAREER | No prior experience required! We provide thorough on-the-job training in all of the key responsibilities above. It is advantages if you have prior experience or skills however not necessary to learn to provide good support for one.
  • MANDATORY | National Police Check, valid Queensland Driver's License, reliable vehicle, and current First Aid & CPR certification.
  • FLEXIBLE AVAILABILITY | Support shifts are 24/7 with mornings, days, weekends and evenings. 30 to 38 hours per week across 5 days, including rotating night and weekend shifts in a fortnightly pattern.
  • CAN-DO ATTITUDE | Calm, confident, resilient, energetic and physical fitness are essential to meet the job demands. You need to be a quick learner and be able to problem solve and hit the ground running.

 

Tasks & responsibilities

  • PROVIDE PERSONAL CARES | Grooming, make-up, dressing, and bathing.
  • DOMESTIC & HOUSEHOLD SUPPORT | Homemaker duties (inc. bed making, laundry dishwashing etc) and light gardening.
  • SOCIAL CIVIC PARTICIPATION | Grocery shopping, community access, business tasks and travel. Must have automatic license and be comfortable with driving to Brisbane and around the Sunshine Coast.
  • MANUAL HANDLING | Safe hoisting, transfers and general manual handling.
  • DYSPHAGIA MANAGEMENT | Assistance with eating, drinking, before and after oral care in accordance to a MSP.
  • USE OF RESPIRATORY EQUIPMENT | BIPAP, cough assist, suction and nebuliser
  • WOUND CARE | Assistance with dressings and basic wound care.
  • ASSISTANCE DOG IN TRAINING | Work alongside a friendly chocolate Labrador assisting with its well-being and integration of role. Must like dogs.
