Disability Support Workers - Complex Behaviour | Casual and Part-time

About the role

As a Disability Support Worker, your main responsibility will be to provide personalized assistance to participants with challenging behaviours and assist them in reaching their objectives. This involves supporting and enhancing their capabilities, aiding them with daily tasks, and overseeing the implementation and progress of their individual plans. You will work with a team of professionals to ensure high-quality services and strive towards positive results for participants within an active setting. They may include and are not limited to

  • Reading and implementing complex support plans
  • Requirements for complex support include managing crises and assisting participants in accessing their professional networks.
  • Assisting with personal care
  • Medication assistance
  • Meal preparation
  • Light housework
  • Shopping and transport to medical appointments
  • Social support and community engagement

 

Skills Required

Experience in Behaviour Support?

  • Passion for bringing the best out of people through a positive approach to behaviour support
  • Experience in providing positive support to clients with challenging behaviours
  • Experience in reading and implementing Positive Behaviour Support Plans
  • Ability to report and manage restrictive practices, potential risks and incidents.
  • Work closely with the participant and their support network to ensure the best outcomes for the individual.
  • Possess incredible emotional intelligence and have a practical, empathetic, flexible approach.
  • Previous experience in behaviour support and PART training or MAPA training
  • Experience in managing complex situations while delivering safe and effective behaviour management support
  • Exhibit adaptability, resilience, transparency, trustworthiness, and passion.
  • Understanding of self-care, boundaries and limit setting.
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts across a 24/7 roster

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Ability to provide care and compassion to others with a person-centred approach
  • Valid Driver's Licence and reliable vehicle (essential)
  • Have the flexibility to work on a 24/7 rotating roster, which includes days, evenings, awake shifts, sleepovers and weekend shifts
  • Have a current First Aid and CPR Certificate (HLTAID0011) or willingness to obtain before commencing
  • Be willing to provide an NDIS Worker Check (NDISWC) Clearance
  • Can support others with personal care and domestic duties in a respectful way
  • Have the capacity to meet the physical requirements of the job, which may include manual handling tasks
  • Have good computer, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • A confirmation record of COVID-19 vaccination (doses 1, 2 and booster)
