Mid North Coast Community College is a community education provider delivering inclusive programs across the Mid North Coast. The college offers a Special Assistance High School , an OOSHC , a Play Centre & Cafe and at its core, Adult & Community Education (ACE) 

This position manages the Adult & Community Education (ACE) division and is offered as a full-time role based in Port Macquarie or shared with Taree campus . The role reports to the CEO

 This role works with the Colleges ACE Management team, Training, Community Development and Youth Programs, to deliver relevant and rewarding programs. As part of the Executive you would collaborate with all divisions.

 

 
Key responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day business management of the business unit to ensure smooth and efficient operation of the business
  • Drive business growth through the establishment of networks within the industry, memberships, with other education partners, and education agents
  • Manage all aspects of the divisions compliance within the VET Quality Framework , ACE provider contract , Smart and Skilled contract and other funding partner contracts
  • Develop, monitor, and evaluate policies and procedures to ensure compliance across the requirements of ASQA and other regulatory bodies
  • Manage trainers and assessors, including recruitment, workload, performance, vocational competence, currency, and professional development
  • Deal with students, public enquiries, members, and stakeholders as required
  • Lead and manage processes including but not limited to:
    • Course development
    • Industry consultation
    • Training and Assessment Strategy development
    • Internal , State and ASQA audits
    • Validation activities (pre and post-assessment)
    • Continuous improvement
    • Student intervention strategies, cancellations, withdrawals, suspensions, and complaints and appeals
  • Oversee the administrative functions , including but not limited to:
    • Prospective student, industry, and education agent enquiries
    • Student course eligibility and enrolment
    • Data collection and provision requirements such as AVETMISS and Quality Indicator reporting
    • Student completion and eligibility for qualification issuance
  • Engage in the Community and Sector , including but not limited to:
    • Represent the college in the community and at Sector functions and advocate for change
    •  Analyse the environment , gather data and present challenges and opportunities to help develop the strategic direction

 

Key selection criteria:

  • Minimum five years recent and proven experience in an Education based leadership and management role
  • Strong knowledge of the VET sector, competency-based training, the VET Quality Framework, and Foundation Skill Framework
  • A passion for community development through education and the power of grass roots engagement 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in maintaining compliance against the Standards 
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated organisational, time management and multi-tasking skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work within regulations and timeframes
  • Strategic thinker with advanced problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work autonomously but collaboratively as part of a larger organisation
  • Proficiency in using computer software including, but not limited to:
    • Student management systems such as AXcelerate or similar
    • Learning management systems
    • Customer Relationship Management systems
    • Microsoft Office
    • Google Workspace / Teams
  • Must be a team player with plenty of flexibility, positive, and a can-do attitude
  • Must be able to obtain a Working With Children Check and Police Check
  • Must hold a higher adult education qualification 
  • current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment an advantage 
  • Must be willing to maintain currency 

 

MNCCC is a small regional based operator that provides programs to community members of all ages although its primary focus is on delivering training and education to the most vulnerable in the community. It operates a small team and requires a hands on leader.
