About us:

The Central Queensland Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Service provides specialist mental health, substance, and alcohol related care to residents of Rockhampton, Yeppoon, Gladstone, Banana Shire (Biloela, Moura, Theodore) Woorabinda and Central Highlands districts and adult inpatients of the Central West Hospital and Health Service (catchments in excess of a population of 250,000).

Rockhampton is the principal service centre, hub, for this area and as such oversights the medical coverage, professional supervision of the medical officers and nurse practitioners, administration of the Mental Health Act, 2016, and support for accreditation and implementation of programs as well as acute inpatient facilities for the Central Queensland Mental Health teams and the ECT services.

Rockhampton Mental Health Service Inpatient Unit, Older persons Inpatient Unit, Acute Care Team, Consultation Liaison Psychiatry Services and Child and Youth Mental Health Services are located on the campus of Rockhampton Hospital. The Rockhampton Mental Health Community Services Team, Alcohol and Other Drugs Services, Indigenous Mental Health Services, Prison Mental Health Services (PMHS), Forensic Mental Health Services (FMHS) and Court Liaison Services are located in the Central Business District (CBD) of Rockhampton. 

About the role:

  • Involve members of the multidisciplinary team in the assessment and provision of patient care in order to recognise the benefits and application of different discipline areas.
  • Perform the role of an Authorised Doctor under the Mental Health Act 2016.
  • Participate in after-hours Medical Officer on call roster for CQMHAODS.
  • Ensure compliance with service standards, procedures, clinical protocols and business rules.

About you:

To be successful in this role you must have a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.

  • Registration or eligibility for registration as a Specialist in Psychiatry with the Australian Health Practitioner Agency (AHPRA). In general, this will require Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) and a member of the Faculty of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, RANZCP or recognised by the RANZCP to be able to practice as a Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in Australia.
  • Enrolment and maintenance of ongoing CME program with the appropriate bodies

Salary information:

Total remuneration value of up to $514,421 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An annual rate between $204,206 - $258,910 p.a.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
