An exciting opportunity exists for a Work, Health & Safety Coordinator to join a well-known and rapidly growing Australian meat processing facility. You will play a pivotal role to ensure the highest standard of safety and wellbeing is achieved within the organisation.

Position

Reporting within the People and Culture team, the Work Health and Safety Coordinator will be part of a team responsible for establishing, driving, and maintaining a strong and proactive safety culture that encourages accountability and collaboration across the organisation. This position also needs to ensure compliance with applicable legislative frameworks, policies and procedures to ensure the highest standard of safety and wellbeing is achieved within the organisation.

Profile

  • Minimum qualification level of Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety. Diploma in Work Health & Safety highly regarded.
  • 3 years' experience within a WHS type role or be able to demonstrate good working knowledge of Risk Management practices and Incident Investigation techniques within a heavy or manufacturing industry
  • Demonstrated experience operating in a strong safety culture 
  • Class C Australian driver’s licence
  • Extensive experience in Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation, codes of practice and relevant Australian Standards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, influencing and problem-solving skills to build effective relationships with stakeholders across all levels of the business.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to 

  • Lead safety compliance efforts.
  • Work collaboratively within the organisation to promote, develop and foster a collaborative culture which creates a work environment where employees embrace and value safety and take responsibility for their own safety and the overall safety performance of the business 
  • Provide accurate and up to date information and advice to ensure the organisation is compliant with applicable legislation and the compliance framework.
  • Collaborate with teams and provide framework for training.
  • Develop, implement, manage and review the WHS management system, including standards, policies, procedures and supporting systems, ensuring that all relevant legislative and regulatory requirements and standards are met.
  • Develop, maintain and continuously review systems, processes and registers by which accidents, incidents and hazards can be accurately documented, analysed, investigated and reported to internal stakeholders.
  • Analyse health and safety related information and deliver comprehensive reports about management systems, policies and procedures, and relevant requirements for Management, Work Health and Safety Committee or external authorities
  • Conduct risk assessments, audits and maintain safety records.
  • Undertake incident and hazard investigations within determined timeframes and implement sustainable WHS strategies.
