Location

Smartax is located 13 floors above Hobart’s CBD. All our offices have huge windows, natural lighting and views over the city and river. It is quiet and beautiful. 
 

Role Description

We're looking for an experienced Senior Accountant for 38 hours a week, primarily on-site. The work hours are flexible. 

This person will be responsible for a large number of business and individual clients. The role involves preparing financial statements and tax returns, providing strategic tax and payroll advice, and creating new entities. It involves significant client interaction and face-to-face appointments. 


This position is only open to those who have unlimited rights to work in Australia. 

 

For those moving to Hobart, accommodation can be negotiated.  

 

Qualifications

  • Excellent knowledge of, and experience using Xero software.
  • Substantial experience in tax preparation for individuals, companies, trusts, and partnerships.
  • Recent experience with Handitax software.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Effective time management for prioritising workloads and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • IPA, CPA or CA certification.
  • 7+ years of Australian accounting & taxation experience.
  • 4+ years of client-facing experience in Australian Public Practice.
  • Experience analysing client needs and setting up appropriate entities.
  • Ability to manage other staff and their workflow.
