Your Role :

Juniper Aged Care is actively seeking detail-oriented and experienced Kitchen Hand to join our dedicated team at Rowethorpe Catering Centre in Bentley.

The primary purpose of this role is to provide assistance in the kitchen, preparing food, and keeping the kitchen area clean and compliant with food safety requirements, while also taking on the responsibilities of a skilled barista, crafting and serving a variety of coffee and espresso beverages to meet the customers' preferences with precision and ensuring a delightful cafe experience.

The responsibilities associated with this position may vary depending on the operational needs of the facility. This could include tasks such as aiding in meal delivery to other Juniper sites, working in roles like Sandwich Hand / Salad Section, and providing coverage for sick leave or other absences.

The ideal candidate will be able to cover the following shifts :

Week 1 : Thursday, Friday (08 : 00am -14 : 30pm) and Saturday (07 : 30am -16 : 30pm)

Week 2 : Thursday, Friday (08 : 00am -14 : 30pm) and Sunday (07 : 30am -16 : 30pm)

Key Responsibilities of this role :

  • Preparing and presenting breakfast, serving lunch and dinner, and expertly crafting a variety of coffee and espresso beverages as a skilled barista, while ensuring efficient cafe operations.
  • Provide kitchen hand services at our facility that include; preparation of food, modifying food texture, apportioning food accurately, serving food to residents, and maintaining a welcoming cafe atmosphere.
  • Managing cafe operations, including customer orders, cash handling, and inventory control, in addition to kitchen and barista duties.
  • When necessary, assist in delivering all meals to other Juniper Bentley sites.
  • Cleaning of cooking areas and equipment to a high standard while also maintaining the coffee preparation station and cafe seating areas.
  • Application of safe food handling practices in both kitchen and barista duties, along with adhering to Juniper's policies and procedures relating to Occupational Safety and Health.

The Skills, Knowledge and Experience required :

  • Hold WA Class C Driving Licence (Essential).
  • Must have UNLIMITED Work Rights (Essential).
  • Experience in a commercial cooking environment or aged care catering (Essential).
  • Certificate 3 in Hospitality and / or Barista Qualification (Desirable)
  • Experience working in a busy cafe environment (Desirable)
  • Safe food handling practice and hygiene standards, including expertise in maintaining cleanliness and safety in a barista station and cafe environment.
  • Demonstrating good written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with residents, customers, and team members.
  • Knowledge of relevant chemicals and safe handling practices and procedures for both cooking, coffee preparation, and cafe operations.
  • Must have excellent organizational and time management skills to efficiently handle kitchen, barista, and cafe responsibilities, ensuring a seamless customer experience.
