Your New Opportunity

Due to continued growth, our Production team in Wacol have an opportunity for a Mechanical Supervisor at our facility in Wacol, Brisbane.  This role is responsible for the supervision of workshop employees and work activities, the planning and coordination of operations ensuring that contract and/or project outcomes meet or exceed the client requirements.

  • Assist in the control of operations and plan, coordinate and direct day to day activities.
  • Ensure the efficient running of jobs, monitoring and supervising all areas, to ensure that client requirements are met.
  • Work with employees to ensure that all jobs are undertaken in accordance with company and client policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to setting work procedures for non-standard tasks.
  • Maintain strong communication with direct Manager regarding works on site.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and safety meetings to enhance communication and feedback.
  • Investigate and report customer complaints to direct manager following procedures and policies.
  • Complete all records, paperwork and data entry accurately, as directed and required. 
  • Ensure employees undertake and complete all applicable paperwork as required.
  • Provide direction to employees' via issuing precise instructions to ensure work is correctly prioritised and planned.
  • Monitor work groups to ensure productivity, safety and work quality.
  • Oversee all mechanical works to achieve maximum serviceability of assets by ensuring effectiveness and efficiency of systems for all planned and unplanned maintenance requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement including cost saving or growth initiatives or changes to improve safety performance.Undertake regular reviews of tasks identify and implement areas for improvement ensuring efficiency in operations.
  • Ensure works carried out meet budgeted time and costs, whilst maintaining compliance with the requirements of the National Heavy Vehicles Accreditation Scheme (NHVAS).
  • Ensure effective management of inventory.
  • Effectively use JDE (or equivalent inventory control system) to process work orders and other related functions.
  • Provide mentoring and assistance to Leading Hand(s).
  • Responsible for the recruitment, selection and development of appropriately qualified staff.
  • Manage employees' leave and rostering to ensure adequate coverage of workload.
  • Assist management with forecasting and budgeting, as necessary.
  • Ensure effectiveness of systems for the management of records and paperwork.

About You

  • Current driver's licence.
  • Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical trade or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience in the management of a large mechanical workshop.
  • Exposure to and knowledge of comprehensive safety management systems.
  • Sound communication skills and the ability to deal with all organisational levels.
  • Exposure to and knowledge of cost control and budget management (desirable). 
  • Sound time management skills.
  • Sound Microsoft office skills.
  • First Aid Certificate (desirable).
