Big Brown House (BBH) is a community-based organisation focused on providing holistic family support and child protection. As a provider of choice across NSW, Big Brown House supports Children and Young People in the community with Emergency Care, Support Services, Forster Care and Respite.

Big Brown House is an accredited Out of Home Care Provider, providing a range of services to support safe, stable and nurturing homes, for children and young people who are vulnerable, so they can reach their full potential.

About You:

Criteria:

  • Drive and motivation to make a difference in the lives of children and young people in our community.
  • Be reliable and available for shift work, including weekends, public holidays, overnight shifts, and active night shifts.
  • Current unrestricted Australian drivers’ licence and a comprehensively insured car.
  • Current paid Working with Children Check.
  • Clear and current National Criminal History Check.
  • Current First Aid Certificate.

Desirable

  • Certificate IV or Diploma in Community Services, Youth Work, Children’s Services, Counselling, Case Management, or relevant field.
  • Please note, we conduct a thorough induction process and offer ongoing training to equip you with the skills to be an outstanding Supported Family Time, Transport and Mentoring Worker.

The Role:

The Big Brown House team are currently seeking passionate, dedicated, and reliable individuals to empower our children and young people on a Casual basis. Our services are provided in a personalised setting to achieve quality care and a safe environment.

As a Supported Family Time, Transport and Mentoring Worker with BBH, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assist the children or young person in maintaining a positive relationship with their parent or family member in a safe, secure environment that is free from conflict.
  • Supervise access visits between participants.
  • Ensure the safety and welfare of the children and/or young people at all times.
  • Provide safe transport to and from visits.
  • Observe and record interactions between participants and the children and young people.
  • Provide a timely and accurately documented report of the supervised contact.
  • Work across our mentoring program to provide an opportunity for young people to spend time with a positive role model who will help them build skills and resilience through targeted activities.
