We are excited to offer a fabulous opportunity for a full time OR part time Senior Paediatric Occupational Therapist (Grade 3) to join our dedicated and professional Child Health and Development team. This is a unique opportunity for a Senior OT to work in community health and provide clinical leadership to support, strengthen and grow the Paediatric service.

About us

Bellarine Community Health (BCH) is the major provider of primary health care services to the Bellarine Peninsula. BCH is a not-for-profit health care provider with close links to our community operating from five sites across the Bellarine.

About the team

The Child Health and Development team provide a multidisciplinary allied health service for children and young people primarily aged 0-12 years. It is comprised of a dynamic, collaborative and friendly team of occupational therapists, speech pathologists, a physiotherapist, mental health professionals, and a child and family engagement practitioner. 

About the role

The Senior Paediatric Occupational Therapist (Grade 3) is responsible to:

  • Provide strong clinical leadership to ensure an engaged, collaborative, and high-quality OT team.
  • Deliver expert high quality clinical paediatric OT skills to a mixed caseload of community health and NDIS funded children and young people.
  • Provide clinical supervision, support and build clinical capacity or growth within the OT team and therapy assistants.
  • Lead, support, participate in, and monitor clinical risk and continuous quality improvement activities or initiatives. 
  • Support demand management for OT services and client allocation processes.
  • Participate in clinical governance activities, specifically relating to child and OT services.
  • Work alongside and strengthen networks with key partners and stakeholders.
  • Support multi-disciplinary team collaboration and transdisciplinary models of support.
  • Practicing in a wholistic, child and family centred, and strength-based manner.
  • Work in clinic, early childhood, schools, and home environments.

To be successful you will require:

  • A Tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy and registration with AHPRA, with a minimum 7 years professional practice.
  • Advanced clinical skills and demonstrated high level clinical problem solving in paediatric OT pathology.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching, mentoring, supervision and support of Occupational Therapists/Therapy Assistants and undergrad students.
  • High level and effective interpersonal skills, including teamwork, clinical leadership, communication, conflict management, with an ability to build positive relationships and work in a team environment.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, efficient and flexible work practices including the ability to manage a busy caseload, meet deadlines, prioritise, and respond to change.
  • Experience with leading or high-level involvement with quality improvement initiatives, or in change management.
