Looking to take the next step or maybe just a sea change?  A small progressive Community club in Elizabeth Beach, NSW seeks experienced Sous Chef and also Chef de Partie for an immediate start.  Both positions will given due support and guidance to help you to be your best in the role.  Accommodation options are also available.

The Sous Chef position would suit someone with strong leaderships skills, a flair for different as well as traditional cuisines.  Leading a fun, committed team in the kitchen & working with a dynamic wider team, this hands on role will see you responsible for the day to day operations of this busy Bistro that produces quality meals for our members and guests.  

The Chef de Partie position will also provide a great opportunity for you to shine working with very experienced new and existing staff, who are full of personality and great to work with, they are also delivering high quality fantastic food to our local community and visitors alike!

The Sous Chef Role will need to provide:

  • Direct support to Head chef, Chef de partie and front of house staff.
  • Training, leadership and mentoring all levels in the kitchen. 
  • Collaborating with other senior kitchen staff in the creation, costing and implementing of daily food specials celebrating the best seasonal and local produce.
  • Hands on service, setting up the kitchen and end of night pack downs. 
  • Organize, schedule and delegate tasks for preparation and service. 
  • Quality control and ensure our consistency.
  • Monitors and maintains kitchen equipment
  • Support to Head chef in rostering, ordering, costings, invoice entry and additional administrative work. 
  • Contribute to our enjoyable workplace culture.

As Sous Chef you’ll be perfect for this role if you have:

  • Strong leadership, management and organisational skills to assist in driving the success of a busy restaurant. 
  • Previous experience in a leadership role, Head chef or Sous Chef (minimum of two years’ experience).
  • Thorough knowledge of food costing, budgets, and rostering.
  • Great communication skills
  • Fast and able to produce quality food under pressure.
  • A sound understanding of all kitchen operations with the ability to multitask while working in a busy restaurant.  
  • A valid Food Safety certificate and good knowledge of safe workplace requirements.
  • Strong technical skills including knife skills, cooking, portioning
  • A strong eye for detail and quality control.
  • Be a driver of a strong and positive kitchen culture with a creative, calm, and respectful mindset.
  • Be passionate about the hospitality industry and eager to make their mark on it.
  • A team player
  • Valid drivers licence.

As Chef de partie you'll be perfect for the role if you:

  • Show passion for delivering high quality cuisine maintaining consistency.
  • Ensure food standards, preparation, presentation and cooking techniques meet company’s standards
  • Ensure the highest possible standard of hygiene and cleanliness is practiced and maintained within the kitchen 
  • Have excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Possess organisational ability including time management, task prioritisation and resource scheduling
  • Ensure compliance with relevant Occupational Health and Safety procedures including knowledge of HACCP.
  • Are flexible with working hours (including weekend and public holidays).
  • Have previous experience in a similar role.
  • Have a confident and outgoing personality with high level of verbal communication skills.
  • Innovative and creative approach to cooking.
  • Thorough understanding of food safety requirements.
  • Hold a Certificate IV in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery)
  • Experience with training junior chefs and trainees
