About the role
 
My client is a leading Australian based financial services company offering a range of specialist Insurance products to a large and diverse customer base. They have a collaborative, flexible and people focused culture and offer a hybrid working structure. 
 
The Payroll Manager oversees the accounting and reporting functions and manages the duties within the payroll team. They will be the subject matter expert and escalation point to resolve issues and continuously looks for improvements in operational processes and designs and implements those initiatives.

Key deliverables of the role will include:

• Develop, implement, forecast and drive the strategic direction, performance and sustainability of the payroll function.
• Oversee and deliver a scalable, efficient, collaborative and effective customer-centric operating mode.
• Ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll; reviewing fortnightly pay and preparation of statutory and reporting requirements.
• Ensure that data is managed in a timely and accurate manner across various systems (eg Aurion and Workday).
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, state and national statutory compliances, wage and hour laws, and tax requirements.
• Oversee processing of payroll changes (eg new hires, terminations, pay increases) and system upgrades (eg Aurion and Workday).

 
Required skills and experience

• More than 5+ years demonstrated experience in a Payroll Manager or similar role, working within a fast-paced business environment.
• Experience with Aurion payroll software.
• Excellent understanding of payroll legislative requirements (awards, Payroll tax, Superannuation, PAYG and Workers Compensation).
