Galambila Aboriginal Corporation (trading as Galambila Aboriginal Health Service) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service located in Coffs Harbour, NSW.

Galambila has empowered the Aboriginal Health Workforce to support clients through their health and wellbeing journey in the service.   

Galambila serves the Aboriginal communities of Coffs Harbour, Urunga, Bellingen, Woolgoolga and provides outreach services at Yarrawarra Aboriginal Cultural Centre.  We also collaborate in service delivery across in the broader region with other communities.

 

About the role

There are two vacancies to be filled in this process. 

In this role you will be providing wellbeing support to Aboriginal clients and community impacted by suicide.  You will provide responsive and timely supports engaging with other support services to ensure clients and community receive culturally safe support services following suicide or impacted by suicide.

You will work with a Regional Coordinator in delivering collaborative partnerships across Bundjalung (Bulgarr Ngaru Medical Aboriginal Corporation) and Gumbaynggirr (Galambila Aboriginal Corporation) communities that are responsive and fill gaps in existing community service delivery for aftercare supports for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in the region.

A competitive salary package commencing at $74,200 and adjusted to the relevant level dependent on the successful candidate’s qualifications, plus the ability to salary sacrifice up to $31,177 as a PBI organisation.

Desirable

  1. A minimum 2 years’ experience working in a case management role 
  2. Experience in an Aboriginal Community-Controlled Health Service 
  3. Knowledge of suicide prevention services within the Mid and North Coast region 
  4. Experience in providing support to clients who are experiencing a suicidal crisis or who have had a suicidal attempt.  
  5. Hold a Certificate in Aboriginal Mental Health First Aide (AMHFA), Suicide Prevention or I-ASIST. 

 

Licence

  1. Current ‘C’ Class driver’s licence is mandatory for this role.

 

Qualifications

Please note Galambila Aboriginal Health Service considers that tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology or Mental Health Nursing that is eligible for accreditation/registration through AASW or APHRA.  

Registration 

The successful applicant must be AHPRA Registered or eligible for full registration through the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse, or Psychology Board as a Registered Psychologist, or accredited or eligible for accreditation with AASW as a Mental Health Social Worker. 

Employment Arrangements 

An offer of employment is subject to a six (6) month probationary period.  This role is advertised as a fixed term contract concluding 30 June 2025.   

This role is advertised across 2 grades but the appointment will be to the relevant level dependent on the successful candidate’s qualifications.   

This appointment is subject to a satisfactory clearance for a police check and a clearance for working with Children undertaken by the Office of the Children’s Guardian (NSW).
