Purpose of Position:

Hexagon Mining in partnership with our client will deploy and operate a world-first fleet of 120 fully Autonomous Road Trains to carry ore 150km to the Port. Hexagon Mining have multiple exciting opportunities for Autonomous Controllers to join our team full-time in Western Australia on this cutting-edge Autonomous Road Trains project. The Autonomous Controllers will ensure the safe handling and transportation of product, complying with relevant safety regulations and standards. You will be an excellent team player and collaborator critical to the success of this world-first project.

 

Major Areas of Responsibility:

  • Operate the autonomous road trains across all areas of the haulage operation including loading, travelling, tipping, refuelling and marshalling
  • Manage or assign vehicles for load/unload haulage operations in accordance with the mine plan
  • Ensure coordination across teams to guarantee smooth operations across haulage, pit and port operations particularly at handover points for loading and tipping
  • Optimise haulage routes to minimise travel time, fuel consumption and road wear
  • Establish a continuous improvement approach, identifying and executing initiatives to further optimise haulage operations
  • Proactively monitor and supervise haulage operations to address potential issues or emergencies
  • Provide real-time tracking and reporting, including progress updates and material movement

Knowledge and Experience - Desired:

  • The future of mining is here, and we are looking for candidates with varying levels of experience including recent Graduates.
  • Experience in mining operations, with knowledge of daily mine workings or previous operation control room exposure
  • Experience in Underground Fleet Management System operations
  • Experience with change management processes and the ability to adapt to changing work requirements
  • Experience in a mining or heavy industry environment working with Fleet Management (MineStar, Modular Dispatch etc), Mining Safety, Control Systems or other related operational technology
  • Understanding of mine safety regulations, processes and systems
  • Fast learner prepared to undertake significant training to become competent in operating autonomous equipment
  • The ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
  • High attention to detail and the ability to identify and execute improvements to continuously optimise operations
  • Must have the right to work in Australia

Travel:

This is a fly-in-fly-out position to Ashburton on an 8/6 and 7/7roster for a healthy work-life balance
