Western Process Controls Pty Ltd is a leading pressure management, valve and actuation supplier to the Australian Industrial markets, including Oil and Gas, Mineral Processing, Refining, Petrochemical, Water & Wastewater, Chemical and Power.

We are looking to expand our local service capabilities, and this is an exciting full-time, permanent position within the team that prides themselves on industry best quality standards and culture.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the role will be workshop based with a requirement to be ready and available for site work as required.

We are happy to accept applications from 3rd and 4th year Mechanical Fitter apprentices !

Duties and responsibilities for this role:

  • Service and repair valves in the workshop and on site
  • Repair and calibrate as required from job sheet instructions and in accordance to manufacturers procedures and client instructions.
  • Identify parts required to facilitate repairs.
  • Diagnostic parts testing as required.
  • Assembly and calibration of new equipment as required by sales department.
  • Mechanical testing (hydrostatic and high-pressure gas testing, including repair and test safety relief valves by safely operating the relief valve test stand).
  • Knowledge of NATA guidelines and where to apply.
  • Maintain test equipment.
  • Reassemble and test to appropriate standards.
  • Ensure correct and accurate testing is carried out safely according to WPC work instructions.
  • Provide print outs and written reports of valve conditions.
  • Build and test automation brackets and fittings.
  • Assist customers with pre-commissioning in workshop.
  • Follow commissioning procedures to test equipment.
  • Provide on-the-job guidance and instructions to WPC apprentices.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Mechanical Fitter Trade Qualification
  • Have a 'mechanical' mindset (taking things apart and putting them back together).
  • Understanding and knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulic systems.
  • Flexibility to undertake site work and travel for work when required.

Furthermore, the following will be highly regarded:

  • Experience working with valves or within the valve industry
