Join Mid North Coast Community College, an organisation that is changing the landscape of specialist schooling.  We have two campuses. The first, Nautilus, opened in Port Macquarie 2017 and now has a student population of approximately 65, catering to Stage 4 and Stage 5. The second, Yulinbal opened  in Taree in 2022.  It currently caters to students in Stage 5 and has a population of approximately 45 students.

 

Opportunities exist at Yulinbal campus for a qualified teacher. Please state clearly your main teaching subjects and any additional teaching experience in your application.  We are also keen to talk to experienced Primary and Secondary school teachers with a proven track record of working with students with diverse support needs.

THE ROLE

We are currently seeking values-driven Teachers to plan, develop and facilitate a holistic education and support program for disengaged youth; 

Stage  5 within our Yulinbal Campus, Taree   

The role will specifically ensure that; Students are successfully re-engaged with schooling, that students are supported to develop positive aspirations that enable independent futures, and good practice learning principles and standards are being implemented throughout the program.

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Re-engagement and ongoing engagement of students requiring special assistance
  • Deliver learning and teaching programs that are effective, inclusive and considered best practice for working with young people in an alternative education setting
  • Ensure that all students meet the applicable Stage standards (as designated by NESA)
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team inclusive of youth workers, psychologists, community educators, volunteer support staff to achieve effective outcomes for young people.

HOURS AND SALARY

We are offering both part time 22.8 hours per week ongoing, 3 days per week (days negotiable) or full time positions for multi KLA.  

Conditions of employment are in accordance with Educational Services (Teachers) Award 2010. Salary Level will be dependent on qualifications and experience

IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

  • Current full registration, or current provisional registration with eligibility for full registration, as a teacher in New South Wales.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Education or similar discipline with a minimum Degree level qualification
  • A current NSW Drivers Licence
  • Be able to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
  • A willingness to learn with a firm commitment to place wellbeing first.
  • Demonstrated experience and/ or understanding of disengagement and non-traditional settings

 

General Expectations

  • The classroom teacher is the primary resource for education and alongside the student support team, they are responsible for the well-being of students. The teacher is expected to be a role model for students.  Teachers  oversee the curriculum planning, development of resources, implementation of learning programs and the provision of well-being of students in their care.
  • Work in the College involves serving and supporting  students and their parents. Each employee is expected to work as a supportive member of a team pursuing this core function. Each staff member is expected to contribute positively to the maintenance of a pleasant, purposeful, productive and safe workplace. MNCCC Board expects its employees to abide by the College Code of Conduct.
  • Provide initial behaviour management embracing calmer classrooms and “Restorative Practice” approaches
  • Maintain regular communication with Parents or Guardians and agencies regarding student academic development and behaviour
  • Attend professional development activities and programs as directed
  • Participate in review procedures for educational programs as required
  • Participate in staff appraisal processes involving both formative and summative appraisal
  • Maintain a clean and safe classroom environment
  • Any other duties as determined from time to time by the Principal and CEO.
